I have knitted hats with the same cables as the Snowy Forest sweater, which I have designed for Laine Magazine issue 10. When you see the hat from the top, you will see a kind of flower motif.

The Snowy Flower Hat is worked in the round from the bottom up. Decrease stitches are worked invisibly in cable pattern.

I have knitted three samples: rustic wool yarn in worsted weight, rustic wool yarn in sport weight and silk mohair in lace weight together, and wool cashmere yarn in light fingering weight and silk mohair in lace weight together. The type of fiber and yarn weight make various texture. I hope you can find your favorite yarn for this hat.

Yarn

180 meters / 197 yards of worsted or DK weight wool yarn

Sample light grey (sport + lace weight): German Merino Light by mominoki yarn (100% German merino wool; 340 m/100 g; sport weight), colourway Pure White and Kidsilk Semi Solid by cowgirlblues (70% mohair, 30% silk; 205 m/25 g; lace weight), colourway Sable.

Sample red (worsted weight): De Rerum Natura Gilliatt (100% merino wool; 250 m/100g; worsted weight), colourway Pavot.

Sample dark grey (light fingering + lace weight): Le Cashmere & Lambswool by Biches & Bûches (87.5% lambswool, 12.5% cashmere; 248 m/50 g; light fingering weight), colourway Grey Brown and Silk Mohair by Isager Strik (70% mohair, 30% silk; 212 m/25 g; lace weight), colourway 47 Indigo-Black.

Needles

5.5 mm / US 9 / JP 11 circular needles on 40 cm/16” cable as main needle, 4.5 mm / US 7 /JP 8 circular needles on 40 cm/16” cable as smaller needle for ribbing. Adjust needle size if necessary to get gauge.

Gauge

15.5 sts x 22 rows = 10 cm /4“, with main needle in stockinette stitch after wet blocking.

4 stitch markers (3 for cable pattern, 1 in different color for EOR), cable needle, tapestry needle.

フィンランドの編み物雑誌 Laine Magazine issue 10 のためにデザインした, ケーブル編みの丸ヨークセーター Snowy Forest （雪に覆われた森のセーター）と同じ模様を使った帽子です. 帽子を真上から見たときに, お花の模様に見えるように, ケーブルの最後の部分の減らし目を調節してみました.

頭周りのリブから編み始めて, 上に向かって、減らし目をしながら編み進めます. 減らし目の部分が見えないように, ケーブル編みの中で減らし目をする方法を使いました.

素朴なウールの太い糸で編んだ帽子と, 細めのウールにモヘアを引き揃えたふわふわタイプの帽子, もっと細いウールにモヘアを引き揃えた軽い帽子の３種類のサンプルを編んでいます. 糸の太さや素材で帽子の雰囲気が変化するので, お好みの糸を見つけて編んでみて下さい.
