This pattern is designed with High Arched feet in mind (feet that curve upwards more than is deemed normal) and as such the decreases are worked on either side of the heel.

If you have a smaller heel it may be worth changing down a needle size, as they can come out a little baggy depending on tension. Thanks so much to the Ravelry user who pointed this out to me!

It will work well for other foot shapes too!

I usually get two pairs of socks from 400 yards (ish) of wool, but this will vary depending on the wool you choose to use and the length of your cuff, the size of your foot. (I have TINY feet).
