Light & lofty rectangle stole with lace weight yarn and big needles.

Songbird begins with just one stitch and the stitch count is gradually increased on the right edge. The body is then worked in garter stitch and decorative eyelets. Finally, stitches are gradually decreased on the left edge until only one stitch remains to be bound off.

Pattern is written for lace weight yarn, but would be equally gorgeous in fingering weight. Use extra large needle size for the lofty and airy look.

YARN
One skein of Handu Merinosilkkihuivilanka (80% merino wool, 20% silk; 800 m / 875 yds per 100 g).

Or approximately 665 m / 727 yds of similar lace weight yarn.

NEEDLES
Size 5.5 mm / US 9 needles or size to obtain pattern gauge
