This hat design was inspired by Traveling Double Diamonds Tree of Life Baby Throw designed by Detroit Knitter.
She created a modified version of Nicky Epstein’s Baby Tree Throw. I loved the way these stitches worked out and Soul Mates is the result.

It is a light weight and cozy for the early spring into fall. This hat is constructed bottom up on double pointed needles (dpns). One can use US5 needles if US4 is tight.

The tree pattern is a multiple of 48 sts, with increases and decreases of 8 sts worked in the pattern. It is worked on the front of the hat, while the back is worked in st st.
The odd rounds follow the chart or instructions, while the even rounds follow the pattern as established.

Familiar twisted ribbing, purl, knit, cables, knit n round, crown decrease, stockinet st, chart, instructions, k1tbl, bind off

This pattern was tech edited, test knitted, and revised, the process should go smoothly.
