Southshore is the most basic of beanie patterns, using knit & purl stitches and knitted flat, then seamed.
Southshore has a 1 1/2” ribbing for a great fit, then the rest of the hat is knit in stockinette stitch with decreasing in the crown for great shape and fit. Decreasing is simple (knit 2 together) style.
Southshore is a great knit for beginners, makers, charity knitters and for quick last minute gifts.
No yarn was specified. Most any U.S. (4) worsted will work for this hat.
One small skein will make this hat unless you are making a super large pom pom (optional) and then you will need extra. A large skein of yarn will make five or six of this hat.
