I love how simple it is to create a unique spiral design on this beanie. It looks much more complicated than it is and stands out amongst the crowd of simply knitted hats. My children love their hats I have also made smaller versions for their toys to match. Mastering the spiral design is they main part of this pattern but once you have got that you can knit up a beautiful hat pretty quickly. I have provided 2 different patterns so you can make this hat either flat or in the round, whichever suits your style.

You will need 2 x 50g balls of a super chunky / Super Bulky yarn. I have used Sirdar Big Softie and Sirdar Big Bamboo in these pictures. I have also made successful hats with Rico Essentials Super Super Chunky but most super soft yarn that is designed to be knitted on 10mm needles should work.

You will also need a pair of 10mm straight knitting needles or 5 x 10mm dpns if ‘Knitting In The Round’
