Please note - I’m unable to provide support on this pattern. It was published over 7 years ago and pattern writing has evolved quite a bit since then and I am unable to keep up. I wrote this pattern up at the time because I was inspired to do so and have always offered my patterns for free. I just simply don’t have the time to provide support any longer. Thousands of people have knit this pattern and taken the time to provide excellent pattern notes and comments. Happy Knitting!
The spiral cowl pattern has been updated as of 12/2010 with better instructions and new photos to help with that pesky stitch marker confusion - if you run into questions, please make sure you have the latest version downloaded. If you’ve already downloaded the pattern into your library you can get a fresh copy by clicking the download pattern link just above. Click “save to library” to get the latest version. Happy knitting!**
January 2011 Errata - You need to decrease back down 1 stitch before you start the second picot edge.
This cowl was created when I needed something soothing to knit, just around and around in circles. Wool + silk added to the wonderful knitting experience and you know it had to have picots too!
It’s so easy to knit and uses only about 200 yds - this would look lovely in handspun too!
This cowl is designed with plenty of ease to allow you to fold and wrap it over with a button or shawl stick. If you’d prefer a tighter fit there are instructions in the pattern to help you adjust. It’s also designed to be worn tall, to cover your whole neck so you can burrow into it, if you’d prefer a shorter cowl simply shorten it by a inch or two - easy peasy! =)
Happy Knitting!
