Spring Frost
This women’s slightly cropped and fitted pullover is knit from the bottom hem up to the top (neckline), and is worked in the round. The sleeve cuffs and yoke of the sweater are worked in a stranded/Fair Isle colorwork pattern. Note that the colorwork pattern is presented in chart form ONLY.
The season of Imbolc heralds the earliest beginning signs of spring, but also marks the center point of the dark half of the Celtic year. Celebrating the festival of the Maiden, this is the season for growth and renewal. The motifs in the colorwork sections of this sweater represent this changeable period when a blanket of snow may still fall, while beneath the sleeping soil, small shoots of new growth begin to awaken.
Yarn Requirements: MC 4 (5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10) balls; 2 (2, 2, 2, 3, 3, 3) balls of each of the 4 contrast colors needed. Note that the two smallest sizes used only a small bit of the second skein of the contrast colors. You may be able to knit these two sizes with just a single CC skein of each color.
