This pattern set (hat and cowl) was originally released to support the fabulous LYSs for LYS Day, which is Saturday, April 27th.

In searching for a name for this pattern set, I couldn’t get away from the squish factor inherent in the drop stitch patterning, and since it really is the squishiest, that’s what its name is. Enjoy knitting the squishiest hat and cowl you ever did see, friends!

Yarn (Hat)
approximately 150 (165) yards/137 (151) m worsted-weight yarn. I used Knitted Wit Worsted in Eliza Frünke.

Yarn (Cowl)
approximately 200 (400) yards/183 (366) m worsted-weight yarn. I used Knitted Wit Worsted in LYS Giggles.

Gauge
16 sts & 28 Rs = 4”/10 cm in stockinette stitch, measured after blocking.
16 sts & 42 Rs = 4”/10 cm in stitch pattern in the round, measured after blocking.

Finished measurements
Hat: 18 (20)“/xx cm circumference, 9.5 (10.5)”/24 (26.5) cm tall, measured from cast-on edge to top of crown.
Cowl: 26”/66 cm circumference, 10 (18)“/25.5 (45.75) cm tall.

The pattern stitch might seem a bit complicated at first, but it really isn’t. Just follow the instructions, and you’ll get a puffy, reversible stitch that’s fun to work and looks fantastic. Both the hat and the cowl are reversible; the inside of the stitch pattern is a puffy pattern that looks like little bobbles.
