This scarf isn’t extraordinarily big or long, but the stitch design can be a challenge. This a good project for intermediate knitters hone their skills with. The stitch layout is fairly rhythmic overall, but the tricky part is getting into that rhythm. Attempt at your own risk ❦
This experimental design uses almost exactly 1 cake of Lion Brand Mandala yarn. Choosing whether or not to get a 2nd cake as backup all depends on if you want to play yarn chicken!

Download package includes:

  • charted instructions in 15 sections, with a symbol legend on each page for easy printing
  • 1 PDF of written instructions in Arial font
  • 1 PDF of written instructions in Comic Sans MS (I’ve been told by people with dyslexia this font is easier to work with)

Even though the written pattern is in double column format, it still takes up about 10 pages. This is because the design elements all repeat at different intervals, so it had to be written in “long” form.

Yarn notes: if you use a yarn other than Lion Brand Mandala, you may need to get specifically a light DK or sport weight for the gauge to match, since Lion Brand seems to pull many yarns a bit thin (in my experience with it 2017-2020, at least).

Edits: On January 31st 2021, both versions of the written instructions were updated to correct a 1 stitch error in row 238.
Was “k8, p21, k1, p9, k3, p4, k2, p10, k3” and is now “k8, p21, k1, p9, k2, p4, k2, p10, k3.”
