This darling blanket is bias knit, lending it a beautiful drape. Its bold stitch pattern is striking in solid yarns, but also highlights shifting colors in variegated yarns. The thick, squishy cabled border mimics a shawl collar, embracing baby in a cozy hug. Such details make this a unique knit.

Yarns:
Any worsted weight yarn will work well for this project

  • Main Color (MC): 1,000 yds (914 m) worsted (MC shown in variegated rainbow)
  • Contrasting Color (CC): 900 yds (823 m) worsted (CC shown in green)

The project pictured was knitted with Malabrigo Rios (“Arco Iris” MC and “Fresco y Seco” CC), however, any worsted weight yarn works up superbly in this pattern.

Final Size: 32 in x 42 in (81 cm x 107 cm). Instructions are included to modify the blanket size according to the knitter’s choosing.

CORRECTIONS/ERRATA:

11/26/2019 - Shown at the top of pattern Page 9 (“Side Border”), instruction should read: “Repeat these 8 Short Rows until 1 Selvedge Row st remains. Then work Short Row 7 once more.”

02/02/21 - Under the Border Prep sections for Long Side (page 7) and Short Side (page 9), where instruction is given for knitters who have modified the blanket size, the calculation should read “Multiply your modified Body Width (in inches) x 3. Round up to the nearest multiple of 4, then add 1.”
