This pattern for a simple but pretty and elegant beaded bag starts with a picot edge at the top, the adds a row of YO holes for threading the cord closure, then the beaded body, finished off at the bottom with a three-needle bind-off, and uses a braided cord closure. So, some perks to add interest, but still an easy and enjoyable knit. I made mine in about 4 hours of total knitting time, including making and threading the cord.

The finished bag is about 6 inches tall, 4 inches wide, and fits both my daughter’s iPod touch and my cell phone perfectly, with room for some cash, ID, car/house key, and a lipstick.

It would make a perfect Valentine’s gift for a girl of any age, especially with a box of candy hearts tucked inside. Knitted up in other colors, it would be great for weddings and any other occasion where a small bag that you can dangle from your wrist would be appropriate.
