Instead of a band of stranded colourwork to add visual interest, in this hat I decided to do something similar but using textured stitches instead. The textured band hat is a straightforward pattern suitable for beginner knitters.

Materials:
1 skein (120 yards) Bernat Roving or similar bulky yarn. The pattern will not use the entire skein.

Size:
To fit an adult (22-23” head circumference).
To make the hat larger or smaller, increase or decrease the number of stitches in multiples of 4.

Needles:
Size US 11, 18” circular needle, and size US 11 dpns.

Notions:
Tapestry needle and round marker, if desired.

Gauge:
4 stitches, 5 rows per inch in stockinette stitch.
