The Hen Sisters
The Hen Sisters is a very special project. They have a story to tell and a mission to accomplish..
They were created for 4 sisters that live apart, separated by many, many kilometers. Pili, Pepi, Paqui and Puri live in different continents, but they share a house by the beach where they meet when they have the chance.
My friend PIli proposed me this comission in order to give each sister a hen and keep them in the little beach house. In this way, even though the 4 sisters are not together, the 4 hens always will be, cackling on the shelf, with their hanging legs…
I instantly fell in love with the idea and decided to make my own pattern and create this crazy hens that symbolize “the union despite distance.”
I also love the fact that she chose hens, because we always think hens = noise, riot, shouting, everybody speaking at the same time…. that’s to say, a family or old friends meeting, right? That’s why I like the idea of this hens as gifts that you can make for your best friends, cousins, sons… whoever you would cackle with…
It’s an amigurumi pattern suitable for an Intermediate + level or level 4. It’s not difficult, but you have to know more than just the chain or single crochet. The Hen Sisters are composed by several pieces, different shapes, stitches and techniques, so you won’t get bored and you’ll learn a lot of new stuff.
