This pattern is easily adapted for any gauge and any yarn. 



This scarf is knit on the bias and has squared ends (versus the points that many bias scarves have).  It’s a very versatile, reversible scarf that is also unisex.  I recommend knitting this scarf long.



Blocking the scarf does wonders for this pattern - it really makes a difference.  Before blocking, the bands of reverse stockinette stitch roll - after blocking, they flatten out remarkably.
