Perfect go to cardigan!
Knit from the top down, back and forth, and in one piece. The sleeves are picked up after the body is finished and knit in the round. Button bands and collar are added after.

This pattern is simple enough for your first cardigan ever!

Sizes:
1 (2, 3, 4, 5) 6, 7, 8, 9
35 (39, 43, 47, 51) 55, 59, 63, 67” / 87.5 (97.5, 107.5, 117.5, 127.5) 137.5, 147.5, 157.5, 167.5 cm finished chest circumference, buttoned.

Yarn:
Color 1 – Approx. 822 (890, 963, 1079, 1168)1266, 1363, 1465, 1549 yards / 752 (814, 881, 987, 1069)1158, 1247, 1340, 1417 meters of DK weight yarn.
Color 2 – Approx. 923 (1000, 1082, 1213, 1312)1422, 1531, 1646, 1741 yards / 844 (914, 989, 1108, 1200)1300, 1400, 1504, 1591 meters of Lace weight yarn.

Color 1 and Color 2 are held together throughout except for Color 2 is used alone for the optional stripes prior to working the cuff and body ribbing. It is not necessary that Color 2 is a different color than Color 1, the textural difference will show as a stripe.

You may substitute a worsted weight yarn and hold it as a single strand (instead of holding 2 yarns together). Use the yardage indicated for Color 1. Use any yarn or combination of yarns that will give you the appropriate gauge.

Green sample used:
Color 1 – WoolDreamer’s ‘Manchelopis’, Manchega wool, 252yds/230m/100g used alone.

Needles and Notions
US8 (5mm) for the yoke, the body and the sleeves.
US7 (4.5mm) for the cuffs, the button and buttonhole bands, and the collar.
US6 (4mm) is also used for the collar.
You will need varying cord lengths for the yoke and body, plus needles for working preferred method of small circumference in the round for sleeves and cuffs.

Seven ¾-7/8 inch buttons
Stitch markers and darning needle
Smooth waste yarn or holders

Gauge
16 sts and 24 rows = 4”/10 cm in stockinette stitch on largest sized needles, after blocking.
