Too Square Scarf
Will came up with the perfect simple pattern to make this perfect simple yarn shine. The Malabrigo Silky Merino is one of the softest and most subtle yarns we’ve seen, and the texture, both visual and tactile, of the basketweave really highlights the best aspects of the yarn. Any lovely DK would work, but you’ll get the best drape and sheen from something with silk or bamboo.
Yarn - Approximately 300-400 yards/274-366 meters DK-weight yarn, preferably something subtly variegated and with some silk or bamboo. Shown in Malabrigo Silky Merino (50% silk, 50% baby merino; 150 yards/137 meters per 1.76 ounce/50 gram hank), colorway Celeste.
Gauge - 23 stitches and 28 rows = 4”/10 cm in stockinette stitch, after blocking.
Needles - US #7/4.5 mm (or size to get gauge) for working flat.
Notions - Tapestry needle, optional: stitch markers.
Skill level - Beginner (knitting and purling only – makes a great first project).
Size/Finished measurements - One size fits most and knit to fit. Width: 8.5”/22 cm. Length: 48”/122 cm or desired length. Measured after blocking.
