Traders Cove is a regional park nestled along the shores of Okanagan Lake. As a protected vegetation and wildlife park, much of this serene oasis is in its natural state. The park’s two bays are divided by a rocky peninsula adorned with native cacti and sagebrush, and dotted with ponderosa pine.

These simple fingerless mitts are knit bottom up with a thumb gusset. The gusset is created with paired yarn-over increases, which are twisted when knit, eliminating the holes normally left by yarn-overs. A single textured column runs up the side of the mitts.

Short mitts shown in Cascade 220 Superwash (220y/100g), using 50g Seafoam Heather.

Long mitts shown in Seawall Fibres Metamorphic Worsted (218y/100g), using 55g Driftwood.

TOOLS

3.5mm (US 4) and 4mm (US 6) needles for preferred method of working in the round, or size needed to get gauge, stitch markers, waste yarn or stitch holder, darning needle

GAUGE
22 st / 4” in stockinette with larger needles, after blocking.

(While gauge is not crucial, a different gauge will affect finished measurements and yardage requirements.)

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS

Short mitts – 7” around palm by 6½” long, after blocking.
Long mitts – 7” around palm by 8½” long, after blocking.
