Is there anything worse than trying to wiggle a toddler’s thumb in to a tiny mitten hole? No. Many frustrated mornings have begun with me desperately trying to shimmy my toddler’s wet noodle of a thumb into tiny knitted mitten thumbs. The answer? Wide mouthed thumbs!

These mittens are knit from the cuff to the tip of the fingers and features an afterthought thumb. The thumb is designed with a wide triangle shape to accommodate wiggly toddler thumbs. The cuff is knit a little longer to keep snow from sneaking in their mittens when they inevitably fall in the snow. The pattern also includes information on how to custom fit your toddler’s hands.
