’Tuck stitches’ is the collective term for stitches that consist of several thread loops. The best known variant is the brioche stitch, in which the thread is laid over an existing stitch. If you repeat this process more often, i.e. put threads over a stitch several times before knitting them, you will get interesting effects which will expand your knitting repertoire considerably.

The ‘Tuck Stars’ look quite impressive, but are based on a simple sequence that you can quickly internalize. Since this is a variation of a rib pattern, there is no right and wrong side; the scarf is completely reversible. Width and length can be adjusted as required.

You are also largely flexible with the yarn you use, but, of course, the effect is more visible with thicker yarn. (DK was used in the sample scarf.) In any case, your needle size should at least be two steps higher than indicated on the banderole.

’Tuck stitches’ ist der Sammelbegriff für Maschen, die aus mehreren Fadenschlaufen bestehen. Die bekannteste Variante ist die Patentmasche, bei der man den Faden einmal über eine bestehende Masche legt. Wenn man diesen Vorgang öfter wiederholt, also mehrmals Fäden über eine Masche legt, ehe man sie abstrickt, lassen sich interessante Effekte erzielen, mit denen man sein Strick­repertoire auf einfache Weise beträchtlich erweitern kann.

Die ‘Tuck Stars’ sehen recht eindrucksvoll aus, basieren aber auf einer einfachen Abfolge, die man schnell verinnerlicht hat. Da es sich um ein erweitertes Rippenmuster handelt, gibt es keine Vorder- und Rückseite; der Schal ist komplett reversibel. Weite und Länge lassen sich beliebig anpassen.

Weitgehend flexibel ist man auch beim Garn, aber natürlich ist der Effekt mit dickerem Garn besser sichtbar. (Im abgebildeten Musterschal wurde DK verwendet.) In jedem Fall sollte die Nadelstärke mindestens zwei Größen höher sein als auf der Banderole angegeben.
