Norwegian Selbu - style mittens with thumb gusset, a traditional mitten shape and a Tulip design.

Size: Medium (ladies) to fit 8” / 20 cm palm circumference.

Yarn and Yardage: Fingering weight / 4ply yarn,
approx. 184 yds (168 m) in MC (cream), 139 yds (127 m) in CC1 (red) and 47 yds (43 m) in CC2 (green).

The pattern includes a fully charted design and some written directions.

I have chosen very traditional colours for these mittens, cream for the background, lipstick red for the Tulip pattern and green for the cuff. But Tulips come in many brilliant colours, often multicoloured, and I can just picture these mittens knitted in sock yarns with more than one shade of red, pink, purple ……
