I was trying to find a nice pattern for men’s beanie hat… but I couldn’t find any that was similar to this:

So, as a rookie… I decided to “create” the pattern!
I created it for someone who has a hard time finding suitable hats for himself since he has a small head. So I made it small, but I think it could fit an average size head as well. I’m almost done with it, i’m still trying to find the best way to decrease it, I don’t think I got it that well but we’ll see how it goes…

What I’ve learned so far:

  1. kbl and regular purls don’t really blend well together except in ribbing… when the purl is on the right side of the kbl, it’s more stretchy and doesn’t look as nice!
  2. Making a pattern is hard. It’s the 4th time I’m trying to do this hat. Ugh!
  3. Finding a way to decrease the hat evenly is harder than expected. I do not like this. I already had to re-do it once, I’m hoping the second time will be the good one!
  4. Why did I decide to create a pattern again?

Of course, if you have any questions concerning this pattern, do not hesitate to comment or write me directly at sophie.delisio@gmail.com !
