This pattern is the kids’ version of Annabel Lee, and is part of the Charm City Kids collection!
Kids outgrow their clothes so quickly, sometimes before we can finish knitting them! The original Annabel Lee cardigan has been renamed for Poe’s wife, the young Virginia Clemm, and reworked for little girls as a top-down sweater that’s easy to add length to, with raglan shaping and full-length sleeves.
Paying homage to the fashions of Poe’s day, the cabled fronts of this cardigan mimic the ruffles and pleats that adorned the bodices of women’s dresses. The cable design is repeated on the back, expanding at the small of the back, as a bow would.
