Washington State Knee Socks
Knee socks are great transseasonal socks—wear with a pretty skirt for warm days or under jeans for an extra layer on cold days. Kate designed these in a sport weight yarn to help speed up the
knitting. Read her accompanying article for tips on customizing the fit of the legs.
Finished Size 6½ (7, 7½, 7¾, 8¼, 9)“ (16.5 18, 19, 19.5, 21, 23 cm) foot circumference, 8 (8¾, 9½, 10, 10½, 10¾)” (20.5 22, 24, 25.5, 26.5, 27.5 cm) long from back of heel to tip of toe, and 10¼ (11, 11¼, 11, 11½, 12¼)“ (26 28, 28.5, 28, 29, 31 cm) calf circumference; foot length is adjustable. Socks shown measure 7” (18 cm).
Yarn Lorna’s Laces Sportmate (70% superwash merino wool, 30% Outlast® viscose; 270 yd 247 m/3½ oz 100 g): #61ns Washington, 2 (2, 2, 2, 3, 3) skeins.
Needles U.S. size 3 (3.25 mm). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Notions Markers (m); cable needle (cn); tapestry needle.
