Wavy Feather Lace Stole
This design is based around a basic ‘feather and fan’ chevron type stitch pattern and instructions given are the same as for needle knitting but without purl stitch rows which would be every other row. This is designed to give a beautiful wavy ripple effect to your finished project as the knitted fabric pulls in on itself and creates a deep wavy edge at each end. Variegated yarns work very well for this stitch work and show off the lacy ripple effect beautifully. For the striped ripple effect shown in the photographs, work the four rows of the pattern using a plain contrasting and a variegated yarn, four rows of each colour until your garment is the desired length.
The stitch pattern itself is worked over 12 stitches so going up in multiples of 12 will be fine if you want this to be a larger baby blanket or an afghan size, just be sure to add three stitches at each end as this gives a neat border edge and stops the piece from curling in on itself along the entire length of your project.
