This is a “first pattern” created for a children’s knitting class - what to do with that first garter stitch swatch! I could not find this when I needed it, so I’m sharing what I’ve made here in hopes it will help another teacher. (The colors turned out rather garish - sorry!) We use 1 oz worsted yarn and size 8 needles, but the concept is adaptable to other sizes and gauges. The blog post about this “pattern” and other preparations for the class can be found here.
