I love Halloween. I mean, I really love Halloween!
In fact, it’s pretty much Halloween every day in our house. We’ve got spiderwebs, bats, ghosts and spooky decor all over our home and the day we run out of black lip gloss more often than we run out of toilet paper. This being said, I really loved the idea of creating a witches hat that was both simple to knit, funky, and most importantly, custom fit. The possibilities with the decor for this hat are virtually endless! It’s very important to me for a knitter to have almost endless easy options for both yarn supply and creative outlet, so this hat is designed to be knit with any feltable bulky (or double stranded worsted) weight yarn. If it felts, and it’s thick, you’re ready to go!
As for decoration, you can go the simple ivy route shown here, or really get wild and create an outlandish piece like Neville Longbottom’s grandmother’s hat from the Harry Potter series. (I’ve got giant peacocks waiting to go on my next hat!)
