Willow Path Shawl
With a cable pattern that is simple, yet full of graceful movement, this cozy shawl is knit from the bottom up. Decreases worked on both sides make the knitting go faster until only one stitch remains!
FINISHED SIZE: 55” wide x 19¾“ deep.
YARN: 510 yds sportweight wool or wool blend.
Shown in Malabrigo “Arroyo” (100% SW Merino Wool;
335 yds/100 g) - 725 Kris. 2 skeins.
Note: Because of the bottom up construction, please allow for extra yarn. Testers used 501-551 yards.
NEEDLES: U.S. size 6 (4mm) 32” (80cm) circular needle.
Adjust needle size as needed to obtain correct gauge.
OTHER: Cable needle, removable marker, tapestry needle, stitch markers (optional).
GAUGE: 22 sts/34 rows = 4” in stockinette, blocked.
SKILL LEVEL: Advanced beginner. Techniques include cable cast on, decreases, and cables.
CONSTRUCTION: Shawl is worked from the bottom up, beginning with a cable cast on. Garter stitch and cables at the hem create a slightly scalloped edge. Centered double decreases are worked along the spine on the right side rows, and single decreases are worked along the edges on all rows, producing an elongated triangular shape.
PATTERN: 6 page pdf includes both charted and written instructions for the cable pattern.
