My niece has a hat with little fox ears that I’ve admired for a while. Then while out with friends, someone had an adult sized hat with fox ears. They didn’t make it though, and didn’t have a pattern. Since I couldn’t find a fox-hat pattern that I liked on Ravelry, I decided to just wing it.
It’s gotten so much attention out and about that I thought I needed to write it down. I’ve read lots of patterns, but this is the first I’ve written down, so if you have any suggestions, I’d love to hear them.

This hat is double knit and (with the exceptions of the ears) reversible. Since I didn’t intend to write the pattern when I started, I didn’t bother with my gauge. I measured it after the fact, so make sure that you double knit your swatch if you want to check your gauge.

As written, it fits a 23” head. It’s a very simple pattern, so the size can be adjusted pretty easily. Change sizes in multiples of 8 stitches.

I have no idea what yarn I used since all of it was either found at swaps or secondhand stores, or acquired from friends, and none of it has labels. It’s all worsted weight, though. I’d recommend having plenty of yarn on hand so you don’t run out.

Needles: Size 7 US circular needles (whatever length you’re comfortable with)
Other: cable needle for decreases, yarn needle for stitching ears and weaving ends.

Enjoy!
