Winterberry Hood is an asymmetrical, hooded caplet inspired by the classic fairy tale, Little Red Riding Hood that was originally designed for Woolgirl’s Once Upon A Time club in September 2012. The caplet has a roomy neck and open arm for a flexible fit on many shapes and sizes.

Pattern is knit bottom-up in one piece with directions for two sizes. Written and charted instructions for the lace edge are provided. This project is simple enough for an advanced beginner. 

Sizing + Finished Measurements
Pattern is written for two sizes to fit the average adult female. Directions are given for S/M with changes for L/XL in parentheses.

Measurements are taken post-blocking.

Materials
Yarn: Yardages listed are generous estimates. It’s always better to err on the side of too much yarn rather than too little. When in doubt, buy the extra skein for insurance. You will need 520 (650) yards of fingering weight yarn. Sample was knit in Pigeonroof Studio Silken Sock, a fingering weight, 80/20 merino/tussah silk blend.

Needles: One 24” circular needle in US 5 (3.75mm) or size required to obtain gauge.

Notions: 2 st markers, a darning needle for weaving in ends.
