There never seems to be enough room for all the baby and toddler toys, blocks, cars and other small toys. Why not make baskets that are fun and functional at the same time? This whimsical set of two baskets can be filled with anything you need. They are sturdy yet soft and easy to tote around by toddlers. The tail makes a handle for easy carrying of the large bottom basket. Make the tail as long as you want; it can also be made as a regular basket handle.
The smaller basket which is the head sits on top of the larger basket and even has a small pocket in the front behind the grin. The basket is removable just like the Cheshire cat head in the original movie! They were a lot of fun to make.

As another option, the two baskets can be stuffed and sewn to each other for a soft and huggable plush cat toy, fun pillow or soft children’s room door stopper.

Working with fun fur can be challenging to work with - count your stitches as you go.

This pattern can be made without the fun fur with the H hook.

Finished size: Large basket 7 inches tall
Small basket 5 inches tall

Supplies you will need:
 Purple yarns: 1) Worsted weight yarn, #4, dark purple, 1 skein (Red Heart Super Saver amethyst used in sample)
 2) Eyelash yarn, dark purple, 6 ounces or less(Dept. 71 Furrish in Eggplant used in sample/ if not available, Fun fur in grape would be suitable)
 Pink yarns: 1) Worsted weight yarn, #4, hot pink, 1 skein (Red Heart Super Saver shocking pink used in sample)
 2) Eyelash yarn, magenta or hot pink, 6 ounces or less(Lion Brand Fun Fur Magenta used in sample)
 Worsted weight yarn, #4, lavender or lighter purple, ½ - 1 skein (Red Heart used in sample)
 Worsted weight yarn, # 4, 2 to 3 ounces each of purple, light yellow or white, black
 Crochet hook J/6.00mm
 Crochet hook H/5.00mm
 Yarn needle
