Woolly Bear
This pattern will be exclusive to members of the Patricia Roberts knitting group. If you are interested please message me for the link to the pattern.
I used to make these little teddies (which I referred to as “wooly bears”) using left over Patricia Roberts yarn from left over from making jumpers. I was inspired by the cute label that used to come with the hanks of yarn.
They are also a fun way of practicing some of the techniques that one would use when making a Patricia Roberts garment for example short rows and a bobble.
MATERIALS
• A small amount of yarn in two colours
• Oddments of yarn or cotton to embroider the face
• Stuffing (left over bits of yarn works really well for this)
The beige bear shown is made on 2.25mm knitting needles using Rowan 4ply (shade 453, Toffee) on 2.25cm needles. Height 3 ¼” ins/ 8.5 cms.
The yellow/orange bear is made of left over Noro Silk Garden (shade 349) on 4mm needles. Height 5 ½” ins/ 14 cms.
You can, of course, make these using any yarn you like. Use smaller needles than you would normally to make a firm fabric.
PS. I will also be offering this to members of the “Laughing Purple Goldfish” group as they have been kind enough to test it for me.
