Kits include yarn, pattern, and row checker in a backpack project bag. The unique row checker helps you keep track of stitch count and shaping row-by-row with check-off boxes. So, you can avoid mistakes and stop your project then start again at the exact spot where you put it on hold.

If you choose to purchase the pattern only, a link to the row checker for each size is also included.

This design is created using both single-stranded solid colored yarn and double-stranded variegated lace weight yarn. The double stranding creates a unique colorway. Before starting, wind half of each ball of variegated yarn separately so you can offset the colors when double stranding to achieve the most effective color blend. The body of this vest is knit sideways, in one piece with no side seams. Although the body of the vest is knit flat, we suggest using a circular needle to accommodate a large number of sts on the needle.

GAUGE
26.5 sts and 34.5 rows = 4”/10cm in stockinette stitch, washed and blocked.
It is important that you achieve the correct gauge in both the variegated and solid yarns. Use two strands of the variegated yarn and one strand of the solid yarn to achieve the correct gauge.
Because this style is knit sideways, it is particularly important that you achieve the correct row gauge.
Wash and dry your swatch according to the instructions on the yarn label before taking your gauge.

IMPORTANT: In order to achieve the same gauge in both the variegated and solid yarns, we found it necessary to double-strand the Zauberball but used the Trekking single-stranded. If you are using other yarns, knit your gauge swatches using the yarns single-stranded. If you find that one or both of the swatches is too open or loose, then try to achieve gauge using two strands of yarn. Remember to take into account how using two strands will affect the amount of yarn you will need. The most important thing is that you achieve the correct gauge in both the variegated and solid yarns.
