This collection is what happens when I fall in love with a stitch pattern. This unusual cable just would not leave my brain alone….and I never got tired of knitting it. Once I’d explored all the possibilities for the full size version, I adapted it to use for smaller garments. I can face it–-I went a little nuts!
Included in the collection is the original Rime’s the Reason with expanded sizing, directions for lengthening sleeves, suggestions for conversion to a pullover and thoughts on using contrasting colors. Then, there is a men’s pullover and a hooded scarf that have considerable overlap with the original jacket.
The final design that makes use of the original, full-size stitch pattern is the Jack Frost Tote–a beautiful and incredibly functional bag perfect for carting your knitting and tech around in style. Its best feature–no sewing!
The remaining designs in the collection make use of the adaptations of the Rime Cable. There are socks, mitts, hat and cowl–all in multiple sizes. The construction details on these are pretty clever (if I do say so myself)–particularly the hidden shaping in the hat and socks and the use of my Phalangee technique for the mitts.
