Notes

I have a pound of fiber, merino, and I plan to use my new Turkish spindle from Turtle Made. :) It won’t be a sweater…more likely, just a LOT of spinning practice!

I’ve started and spun about an ounce, and I love the spindle AND the fiber! This is my most enjoyable spin in like…ever!!! When I put it down, I just can’t wait to get back to it…so luscious!

03/02/15 - I am about 2oz into the spinning, and I am pretty sure this will be a two-ply, fingering. Still loving how it’s spinning up…ooohhhhh!

03/27/15 - I am so excited to have this as yarn…but I’m spinning so thin. I don’t think I’ll be able to hold out for a sweater’s worth of this one. I know, I know…I have 4 braids…here’s what I’m thinking (as I enter the last turn before the finish line on the 1st 4 oz.):
This one will be a fingering-weight 2-ply, and I’ll pair it with a neutral for some fun, fingerless mitts.
The next one(s?) will be spun heavier, for a cowl or hat to match? Color work on that? No idea. The tonals in this braid are just so very, veryl lovely…I must knit with it!!!

6/13/17 - So, after a brief hiatus (cough, cough…or a long one), I am back at the spinning. I’ve finally finished the second of the braids! I will end up with roughly 170g of a 3-ply, and 18g of two-ply “leftovers” (for hexipuffs?), when I am finished. I don’t yet know what I will do with the remaining two braids. Not enough for a sweater for either girl, but maybe some very warm mittens???

6/22/16 - 2nd skein must be a heavier weight…10g difference in weight, but way fewer yards. Overall, I am happy with the finished yarn, and I have more than enough for a hat and mitts, if that’s what I end up making. It is mostly DK (with some thinner and some thicker), and I love the way it looks.

My one disappointment with this one is that SO MUCH BLUE FELL OUT into the water when I soaked the finished skeins, both on this project and on the 2-ply DK that I did with the remaining fiber. Check out the photo of the blue water in my sink (see last photo)! It was crazy, and I cannot help but wonder if the yarn will still bleed during and/or after knitting…maybe I’ll cook it with some vinegar before I knit? Probably not. Perhaps it will be toys anyway?

Besides the 170g of DK, I also have 18g of a 2-ply, 79 yards (fingering), from the leftover singles. Oh, and two more braids. Considering the bleed, I may felt with the other two braids…
