for the top of the hat CO 3
row 1: kfb, K2
row 2: kfb, K3
row 3: kfb, K4
row 4: K6
row 5: SSK, K4
row 6: SSK, K3
row 7: SSK, K2

Picked-up 3 st along each side of the top of the hat & co 3
row 1: knit 3, SSK
row 2: P4
repeat those 2 rows until there’s 4 st left.
graft those st to the CO edge

double crochet along the hat to make a kind of “brim”
