This pattern is an older pattern that they pulled out of the archives. It starts with a chain 5 ring but that left a nice sized hole in the center so I used a magic ring. Tutorial

Also, this pattern doesn’t tell you to join at the end of each round. I guess they assume you will know what to do. I just played it by ear. If it would look fine if I continued to the next stitch of the next round without joining I didn’t do it… but there are a few spots where I just joined with a slip knot to the first stitch to keep everything looking good. When you get to the end of the main body color which is the end of round 4… you work the final 7 double crochet and then it just says to fasten off. You have to join there before changing colors but going from the height of a double crochet down to the next stitch is odd…. I made the last stitch a half-double crochet and then joined to the first stitch of the round with a slip stitch and it makes a nice smooth end to that round.

The edging is something I had never heard of before so I had to learn about it. It says to “work backwards sc in each stitch around.” Here is a tutorial I found on how to do that. (I added a new tutorial since the other one was no longer working)
