I changed the scarf portion of this completely, as though I didn’t dislike the skinny neck portion, I wanted something that would keep my neck a bit warmer, as it gets quite chilly in the north of England.

I did a provisional cast on of 14 stitches and started the pattern where it began Leaf pattern

I knit the leaf according to the instructions. Once that was bound off I undid the provisional cast on and slipped the 14 stitches onto my needle and increased to the leaf lace pattern as so:

Row 1: sl1, p1, k1, kfb, k2, kfb twice, k2, kfb, k1, p1, k1. (18 sts)
Row 2: sl1, k1, p6, k2, p6, k2.
Row 3: sl1, p1, k1, kfb, k4, p2, k4, kfb, k1, p1, k1. (20 sts)
Row 4: sl1, k1, p7, k2, p7, k2.
Row 5: sl1, p1, k1, kfb, k5, p2, k5, kfb, k1, p1, k1. (22 sts)
Row 6: sl1, k1, p8, k2, p8, k2.

Then, I did 8 repeats of the leafy lace pattern included in the project pictures, ending the eighth repeat on row 7:

I then cut the yarn, placed the stitches on a stitch holder and then made the second half in exactly the same way, before kitchener stitching the two edges of lives stitches together for a neat finish.

An iCord loop on the back of on of the ends keeps the scarf secure and in place.
