To be revealed after swap is complete.
I’ve already revealed that I am using my hand-spun / hand-dyed yarn and that it is some sort of color work, so I can put that here. I’ve been planning this for 6 weeks before I cast on. This is even one of the patterns that I looked at before my spoilee was chosen (granted, I bookmarked many!). This one was just too perfect to pass over. :D
1/17 Okay, I tried casting on Thursday, misunderstood something (That is to be expected at knit night! haha). So last night I knit a swatch and rechecked calculations. My math is set and I cast on the edging…
1/19 I wasn’t satisfied with how the color change was going so I pulled a little bit out and started working on the yarn. It was so hard to cut it into small balls. :( I’ll see if I can work with only one ball as the other is quite different even though they were dyed at the same time.
1/23 Three motifs down, three to go!
1/27 Since I did intarsia and changed the pattern to flat, as well as reduced the yarn to fingering weight, the second part the shaping got a little tricky; I had to temporarily sew together the edges and try it on to make sure the fit was right. (My spoilee has the same size _wrist_ as I do, fortunately!) Then I had to guess where to add the _thumb gusset_. Thankfully when I tried it on again I had placed it right! Whew. Then I had to further adapt the _thumb_ by incorporating a technique I’d used for a previous project (to be added later) to get everything right.
1/28 I’m so happy with the way this project came out! I can only hope she loves this as much as I do!
1/31 Doing the math and cleaning up my stash info today. Thinking about it, I may make this myself with the colors reversed; I have plenty of yarn for it!
