Making 3rd blanket in a year, and I learned a few tricks to streamline the process.

To eliminate about 1/3 of the joining ends, I’m crocheting each circle/square owl/motif and leaving an extra long tail on each. Then using the tails, sewing the motifs in strips, weaving in ALL loose ends as I go. This makes it easier manipulate to sew on the eyes and also to ‘zip’ the strips together quickly, then all that’s needed is the border. This will make the finishing seem a breeze.

Put down for about 6 weeks. Just had eyes, joining and border. It was really cool “zipping” the strips together, with virtually NO ends to weave in at the end!

Instead of slip stitching around the space where the border joins the blanket, I made a chain with the variegated and wove it in like a ribbon. Love this effect!!
