Pattern is very well writen, I would say the difficulty rating is closer to “easy” if you’re familiar with tunisian crochet and especially tunisian lace work.

So far I’ve made it through row 9 and into 10 on my first skein of yarn, so I may end up using closer to 550 metres.

Note I’m pretty sure there’s an error in Row 14. For each of the fan rows up to and including row 13, there is a picot at the top of each fan (taking up two sts), during row 14 there is just 1 sc in the pattern which leaves an extra stitch. For my shawl, I did a sc dec at the peak of each fan to keep the stitch count. But I bet you could also just use two sc (no picot) and make it work out fine.
