July 23 In a beautiful confluence of long-admired pattern and long-desired yarn, I’ve begun this huge project that I hope will keep me busy for much of the next two months until I leave for my year in Germany! The pattern is incredibly well-organized and marvellously precise and helpful, not a detail left unmentioned. One of the best-written patterns I’ve ever seen! Thank you Eva!! And oh the yarn be still my heart! There are many happy hours of knitting ahead of me :)

July 26 My gauge is 22 sts x 32 rows / 4”, so my piece will be wider and a bit longer than the original! OK by me, the bigger the better, and I’m glad I have 2000 m on hand just in case.

August 23 50% done today.

September 3 Bound off this morning with 13 days to spare before I leave! I just loved working on this project :) Such a joy!! This shawl will be a wonderful travelling companion!

September 4 Pinned it out his morning and IT’S SO BIG!! 92” x 40.5”!! Holy smokes! Fabulousness!

February 14 2017 Edited to add that this is the best thing I’ve ever knitted. I’ve worn it honestly every day in fall, winter, and spring for the last year and a half and I love it to bits! Folio has hardly pilled at all and the pattern is just so groovy <3
