UPDATE: I finally found an opportunity to wear my sweater before the weather gets too warm!
That, and I finally am happy with my buttons thanks to this BurdaStyle tutorial. I LOVE dorset buttons! They just work so much better than the plastic buttons I found at JoAnns!

I loved working on this pattern. However, I have never been able to purl more than three stitches together without becoming incredibly frustrated. This pattern calls for many, many P5tog. I ended up using a crochet hook to pull off the 5 stitches, wrap my yarn around the hook, pull the yarn loop through, and finally place that loop on my needle (this is much easier than it sounds!)
My yarn choice did not match the prescribed tension, but it worked out to simply cast on 10 sts less per section - the stitch pattern is a repeat of 10 so this worked out perfectly.
I would have liked the updated version of the pattern to clarify the somewhat outdated wording of the pattern. If you are including the original version of the vintage pattern, why not update instead of merely typing in the same version (although the font is easier to read in the “new” version). I wish they had standardized the patterns for a contemporary knitter should one have a question about the vintage pattern language.
