Got a lovely Habu Sampler from Dairing and decided that it had to be woven.
The warp was in one strand of stainless steel silk in white, and the weft was the sampler. I decided to use a strand of stainless steel silk the whole way through too to give the scarf a little heftiness (not really a word that goes with these ‘light as a feather’ yarns. I didn’t quite have enough on the sampler so raided my own stash and added in some cotton, some toby moire and some cashmere.
I wove it loosely in sections and tighter in sections - even playing around with making waves through it to see what it would do.
It was ok when I finished but AMAZING after I gave it a hand wash in hot water and a little fabric conditioner. MAN - that did the trick. All the wrinkles stayed in giving it real character and certain types of yarn felted ever so slightly to the stainless steel silk.
I have to find out all the yarns so I can list them all and there isn’t really a section that I don’t like….but my favourite would have to be the delicate toby moire section - it looks amazing.
