Notes

I loved the vintage look of this design and thought it would be fun to make. I knew I had to make some mods, because of my line backer body and my aversion to cleavage.

This is how

  • CO 163 st (due to absence of hips)
  • dec 3 times, every 4 rows for waist shaping
  • straight on for two pattern repeats
  • inc 8 times, every 8 rows
  • horizontal bust darts (4 pairs), turning just outside the lace, 3 st. intervals
  • vertical bust darts in middle st. of chart E, inc 1 st every 4 rows, straight for 12 rows, dec back every 4 rows
  • higher neckline, double i-cord/eyelet border
  • i-cord around armhole

The border around the neckline was inspired by the hem of Pattepoilue’s fantastic Field of Poppies. I swatched and tried to knit something comparable, but just couldn’t. When I asked Pattepoilue, she kindly explained it to me. Swatching again, alas, to no avail…
This was my solution:

  • PU st around neck edge (RS),
  • k one row (WS)
  • i-cord bind off
  • PU i-cord st (RS)
  • starting on RS again one row of k1, k2tog
  • purled one row (WS)
  • i-cord bind off

About the cami
Pattern, model, yarn, fit and even execution are nice enough (although I should have started the vertical bust darts sooner), but I’m on the fence about this one. I’m not sure it is me. A little to girly perhaps?
