Notes

Modified from original pattern as I am making a larger size.
Essentially you crochet strips of alternate colours that make alternate ‘squares’. By starting each second strip with the second colour the joined strips form a check pattern.

I used 4.5mm hook for starting chain of each strip - 17 ch. I then swapped to 3.5mm hook, UK dc into second chain from hook and crocheted 15 more UK dc across (16 st). I needed a total of 18 rows before changing colour to make the next ‘square’.

Rather than joining by sewing as the pattern states, I crocheted together on the wrong side using repeating dc-ch stitches. I am happy with the country-style look! I edged using a smaller hook - a dc row, then 3tr every third st.
