Made a few of these but have devised my own little garter stitch version suitable for a boy! The red one shows how it looks - I changed the method of increasing on the curved front so there were no eyelets - also made the front bands and the neckband all in one piece - then because the original eyelet pattern was an eight row pattern - I made one in wager stitch but changed the method of increasing back to the original style. Either of these versions are very suitable for both boy and girl. I changed the original so much - more than about 75% - I had to write it all down so I wouldn’t forget! then I played around with it some more and came up with a striped version. I don’t think I ever leave a pattern alone now - just have to tweak it - especially to avoid that sewing up ugh!
