Yes, the name is a reference to Proverbs 31.
01/05/2013 Hey, did you know that gauge is important?
I had to frog the red sweater I was making for my son before because it was far too small in the ribbed pattern I was using.
After consulting with my son, I found that he really wanted a knitted hem raglan done in stockingette with a rolled hem neckline.
Easy, but dull.
But at least I had the sense to knit a gauge swatch!

The body is done and I had knit about 80% of the sleeve when I thought to try it on my son. While I was increasing every 4th round on the sleeve, that really gave far too sharp of an increase for an arm that stays pretty consistent in diameter once you hit the forearm. (My son isn’t a muscular man). While he likes the idea of loose sweater, this had a blousy appearance that would have looked great on a girl’s sweater, but not so much for a man’s.
I’ve ripped back, am going to increase every fifth or sixth round, and I am going to stop at 60 stitches rather than 66. That sleeve was a little too wide.
I wouldn’t be SO perfectionist about it, but he’s old enough now that he might be wearing this sweater for several years instead of outgrowing it in two or three.
1/17/2013 Good heavens this was a lot of idiot knitting! But plain as it is, I have to say I’m happy with how it turned out. My son loves it, which is the important thing. He won’t let me take it and block it, though, and it needs it because I need to stretch out those sleeves just a little -- say an inch or so.
