Our condo is very plain, especially our living room. In the effort to deplete 75% of my RHSS stash I began experimenting with the idea to crochet a massive area rug to “tie the room together” and add a much-needed POP of color. Inspired by our neighborhood beach, I worked up a palette that recalls the white and golden sand meeting the turquoise shallow water leading out to darker waters beyond the reef and heading out to the horizon.
To my surprise Red Heart Super Saver is perfect for this project! With two strands held together throughout the rug it works up very stiff but at the same time very squishy, thick and comfy under my toes just like…well…a rug should be. :-P I am incredibly happy with the way it is working up so far. I am into the second repeat of the color sequence and I love how each additional color adds a little something to one that it “interlocks” into. I plan on making a large border upon completion.
