Notes

I have 14 skeins of the purple - note 2 are different dye lots but look identical to me. The bottom lace band is coming along nicely. This may look good in a dark colour…

Started with 2.75 needles but tension too loose and piece too large for me. Ripped out and started again, including border, with 2.5m needles and stitches for XL size. Much better. After a few more inches, and several mistakes, I also realized still rather large for me. Ripped out back to band and started again from there with 2.25m needles. I also began reducing stitches for waist. I need curvy shape, not model stick shape. (About 6sts ea side) This means I am now working stitches similar to the 3rd largest size.

Note to self: I went back to 2.5 needles 2 inches before the underarm castoffs. A few inches above the waist I also added back about 3 sts ea side.

Lace not my specialty and this is going slowly. I have redone some parts 4 times. As of July 4 have only 8” done of back, but at least I like it and think it will fit as I want.
July 7: My tension, in stitch pattern, on 2.25m needles over 147 stitches is 6.189 sts per inch as my piece at 13” long is 23.75” wide, unblocked.

July 8 Sidebar: While advance researching for a future project, I found the Pineapple Pattern Border illustrated in Sharon Milller’s Heirloom Lace, pages 155-156. It surely was the basis for this Daydream lace pattern.

July 13: almost finished the back. I think I am starting to ‘get’ this. Thinking ahead to the front I must alter neck line as the beautiful high Victorian neckline will do my double chin no favours. Will probably go with my usual V neck.
Aug 1: Back done and front complete to above armhole cut-ins. Now I have to design my neck which I think will be round not V and scooped out a bit.

Aug 5: neck is done including a narrow knitted on edging. Doesn’t look as I had planned/thought, but I like it. So whip up a couple of sleeves and wrap it up.

Aug 8: 1st sleeve 2/3 done. It is moving more quickly now. For sleeves I followed the X large size/stitch count. After trying on the bottom edging for back around my wrists I decided 4 vertical edge repeats should work for sleeve cuff. To avoid them being too tight I worked on 2.75m needles, changing to 2.5m needles about 15 rows up into the lace chart and used these throughout.

I did 3 needle bind-off on shoulder sleeves and laid front/back out for a light blocking.
Aug 14: Knitting done but must be pieced/sewn together.

Aug 16: Complete and looks good. I am very happy with the fit through the body and happy that I added more shaping. To be critical the sleeves are a smidge to big in length and in circumference at the top. Overall I am very happy with it.
I used 10 of the 14 balls of yarn. 4 were returned to Romni’s
